Casting for Pod

November 6, 2007

I enjoy fishing.  So when the opportunity to go Podcasting came up I thought I’d give it a go.  Do Pod taste like Cod with a slight apple flavor?  What happened to the “i” part when Podcasting?  Is it because you are sharing and not being selfish with your Pod? (Drum fill)

Anyway, I have gotten around to creating a Podcast on Blended Learning.  I created it using MyPodcast Recorder.  I set up an account with MyPostcast.com and used their software to upload, but alas more technical difficulties.  Since I’m not one to beat my head against the wall too many times, I decided to host the podcast back on Screencast.

Check it out here:

  1. Just watched your last two videos. Well done! I am going to have a look at Screencast. Your description of blended learning is informative. Thanks!

  2. Well that works just fine!
Great mLearning reference too. Make them use those cell phones for good not evil.

  3. I enjoyed this podcast. I have yet to try one. The topic was of interest to me and the points regarding differentiated learning were well made. The blended almost seems like extended learning. In a real art/museum setting there may be some glitches encountered with cell phone camera photos taken of some art mediums. Although, of that I’m not 100% certain.

  4. I’m sure there would be many problems with taking pictures of art work with a cell phone camera in a museum, however, I wanted to be true to the spirit of eLearning and mLearning.

  5. http://www.podbean.com/ is another option. Good podcast, nice and clear and it didn’t take too long to load. I appreciate not having the advertising to listen to as an introduction. I absolutely agree that we should use as many strategies as we can when teaching our students. We don’t want to repeat the old mistakes. I remember when they switched to whole language instruction which is wonderful but too many teachers abandoned the phonetic, grammar and spelling instruction completely to the detriment of many a student. It’s wonderful to be able to use the technologies that kids are using to help them learn what we need to teach them. Keep the best and leave the rest. Sometimes I wonder about the the idea of teaching them what we “need” to teach them as opposed to what they want to learn. If they need to learn it wouldn’t they want to learn? Or is that in an ideal world?

  6. Seeing that I didn’t have much success with Mypodcast.com I’ll bop over to Screencast and have a go at that…

In re: to the cell phone photos in the art museum, I guess a person would have to get proper permission 1stly in order to combat/prevent possible (il)legal scenarios we shall say.

    Very Good Presentation

  7. Excellent cast David. I too like that there is no advertising clip attached with yours. I could not eliminate that feature off of mine. Perfect example given!

  8. Great job of explaining blended learning and mlearning. I really enjoyed the idea of having the students use their cell phones as a learning tool. Excellent.
